.. _Asec-ndatalibrary: .. _sec-ndatalibrary: Evaluated nuclear data libraries ================================================== The PHITS package includes the evaluated nuclear data libraries of JENDL-4.0 for neutrons below 20 MeV for 405 nuclei listed below, JENDL-5 [#ndatalib_jendl5]_ for neutrons and protons below 200 MeV for approximately 30 selected nuclei listed below, and JENDL-5 for deuteron below 100 MeV/n for 9 nuclei listed below. Note that the file size of the complete dataset of JENDL-5 is too large to be included in the PHITS package. If you wish to use JENDL-5 for protons and neutrons for other nuclides, or JENDL-5 for photo-nuclear and alpha-induced nuclear reactions, please follow the instructions below. 1. Run ``jendl5_setup_win.exe`` or ``jendl5_setup_mac_lin.sh`` in ``phits/XS`` folder. If you cannot find these files in the folder, please update PHITS after version 3.34. 2. Specify the installation method and the folder to be used. 3. Specify the address file, ``xsdir.jnd``, to be edited. 4. Select the libraries you wish to install. The installer performs the following steps. 1. Download and extract the selected JENDL-5 compressed data in 7zip format. This process can be skipped depending on the selection made in step 2 above. 2. Add the address information of the newly downloaded data to the specified ``xsdir`` file. In this case, JENDL-5 is used in priority over other libraries for all nuclides because it is appended before the information of JENDL-4, on the line above [#ndatalib_priority]_. Also, JENDL-5 data, ``data/natural_abundance_20c.dat``, will be used for natural element expansions. If you wish to use nuclear data libraries other than JENDL, please see :ref:`faq-e-othernucleardata`. In addition, ``phits/XS`` folder contains other cross-section data such as the thermal neutron scattering kernel based on JENDL-4.0, ``tsl``, photo-atomic data library based on EPDL97 [#ndatalib_epdl97]_, ``pho``, electro-atomic data library based on EEDL [#ndatalib_eedl]_, ``ele`` , not used any more, photo- and electro-atomic data for EGS mode, ``egs``, ionization and excitation cross-section data for track-structure mode, ``tra``, and photo-atomic data library for adjoint mode, ``adj``.
